I had not planned to write inspiration or romance. But when I accepted a position requiring me to move from Kansas to Illinois, someone threatened to kill me if I took the job. After the F.B.I. solved the case, I attended a women’s conference and saw magazines displayed on a table. I scanned one and decided I had to tell somebody just how good God was in bringing my family and me through that experience. My story, “The Day I Received the Death Threat” was published in Today’s Christian Woman magazine. I remained determined to never write a romance novel, but ... (You know how this ends, right?)
Fast-forward a few years. My two brothers died sixteen months apart with my mother sandwiched between them. One of my writing group members suggested I take a break from my life by writing … Yes! You guessed it. Romance! Another writer encouraged me to send the manuscript to Moody Publishers. Thinking I’d at least get her to shut up, I submitted it. To my surprise, they published my novel, “The Father’s Voice.” Since then, I've continued to publish stories to encourage and inspire. |

What’s a successful, career woman to do when the man she loves isn’t “white collar or blue collar,” but “no collar”?
