It’s been a year since Brenda Quinn and Russell Dawson took up residence on the bookstore shelves, within the pages of The Father’s Voice. And they’re finding the romance neighborhood quite to their liking!

Pictured on the book’s deep, rich color, Brenda steeples both hands as her fingers point upwards, providing a clue as to “Who” holds her thoughts. In the softly, faded background, Russell Dawson, the mocha-colored man with a shaved head doesn’t have any wrinkles in his forehead as his lady considers Someone Else.

Think it’s unlikely that woman making six figures, especially an attorney, would become involved with someone who empties her trash? Read “Just Thinking” for my experience with this. Also, have you ever heard of Tyler Perry, and his movie, Daddy’s Little Girls? As one friend put it, she kept thinking of my book as she watched Tyler Perry's movie about a female attorney who falls for a blue-collar guy. But there’s a difference. The Father’s Voice is unashamedly, unabashedly, Christian. For a frank discussion about “dating down” and Christianity, let’s talk.

Publishers are discovering that when it comes to romance, Christian fiction is seen as upgrade! Brenda and Russell are finding themselves at home in the neighborhood. I invite you to spend some time with them. Sit back, make yourself at home and read an excerpt from the book.

Is Christian “fiction” an oxymoron? I want to share with you the Bible passage that helped me to understand the marvelous ways in which God’s Word is brought to life.

Jesus said, “How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story should I use to illustrate it?. . . Jesus used many similar stories and illustrations to teach the people as much as they could understand. In fact, in his public ministry he never taught without using parables; but afterward, when he was alone with his disciples, he explained everything to them." Mark 4:30,33-34 (NLT)

That’s right, dear readers. Parables, like the prodigal son, are stories Christ made up to illustrate Biblical principles. Our God is so awesome to use various ways of drawing people to Him. That doesn’t mean that there won’t always be a place for non-fiction. In fact, I’m working on my first non-fiction title, Becoming a Bodacious Believer.

Until then, let’s help make sure that Russell and Brenda keep their home, and shelf space, at these fine bookstores:

Moody Publishers
Amazon
Barnes and Noble
Christianbook.com

If your neighborhood bookstore doesn’t have the book in stock, ask for it by name. Word-of-mouth will send the message that the clutching the Bible in one hand and greenbacks in the other is a dominating force. Also, usually if the retailer ships the book to their location, you don’t have to pay shipping.
